Ethical Action: Voices for Change
We are going to be writing postcards together this Sunday! We’re going to try to fill out 500 postcards to send as part of a campaign to inspire voters of color to turn out in the fall elections — come be a part of that! You’ll have opportunities to chat and socialize as well as write postcards.
Children who can write are invited to join us, and we’ll have some space for children to play, too.
We do ask that you carefully follow instructions as we join this campaign.
We’re partnering with Reclaim Our Vote, an organization that targets low-propensity voters of color to help them register and vote. That organization’s work has been shown to increase voter turnout significantly….
We’ll be there in the window of 10 a.m. to noon, so come when you can, stay how long you can, and be part of helping people find their voice! We’ll be outdoors, weather permitting. (Inside, vaccinations, masks, and social distancing are required.)
Bring if you can:
Postcard stamps, even more than for how many cards you want to write so others who can’t bring stamps can also participate. Please buy coral reefs, barn, or other neutral designs. Flags are unfortunately associated with voter suppression and intimidation for many.
A pen or colorful pens if you like (though we’ll have some).
A contribution, if you are able, to the costs of postcards, labels, extra stamps.
A snack or drink to share (with your help, we can be sure many of the snacks are healthy). Drinks are especially welcome.
Contributions to "Sunday Sharing" are shared between RYSEC and this month's sharing partner as we try to contribute to making a more humane world.
This month, we focus on voting rights especially in under-served and under-represented communities.
