Meditation Gathering

Community meditation gatherings in Riverdale: All welcome!

You’re invited to attend silent meditation sessions in Riverdale. Come sit in simple, peaceful silence and enjoy the benefits of community meditation. No experience needed and no particular form or style of meditation will be practiced. All are warmly welcome! Donations (for costs of the space) are appreciated, not required.

Location: The Riverdale–Yonkers Society for Ethical Culture (RYSEC) – upstairs in the Meeting Room.

Dates and Times:
* Sunday evenings 7 pm to 7:30 pm (not May 21)
* Wednesday mornings 7 am to 7:30 am
Doors open about 6:45; optional time together at the end until about 8.

Additional details: These sessions are a new neighborhood experiment.  It’s a collaboration between some local residents seeking a place to simply meditate in community, and welcomed and supported by the Riverdale–Yonkers Society for Ethical Culture as an opportunity to support human flourishing.

The goal is to provide a friendly, informal, nondenominational environment in which all people—including those new to meditation and experienced meditators—can come together and meditate. We’re offering two weekly times—Sunday evenings, to prepare for the coming week, and Wednesday mornings, to find a few minutes of stillness before a busy day begins.

Parking: There are up to 6 off-street parking spots on the Society property.  You can also park on the street anywhere signs say that it’s legal, or sometimes in the public parking spots in the lot directly across Manhattan College Parkway.  PLEASE be careful not to park past the sign for the Fieldston neighborhood on Fieldston Road, a few car lengths up the street from the Society, or your vehicle most likely will be towed.  Parking is not available in the Fieldston school parking lot at these times.

Access: You can enter the building through the street level door and walk up the stairs to the meeting room level, or walk up the outside path to the upper door and then go down a few steps to the meeting room level, or if you need assistance, enter on the ground floor and use the lift that is there to get to and from the meeting room level.
