How is deep listening different from just plain listening? Deep listening includes listening from the heart, instead of from self-interest. Deep listening is when we are able to hear another’s feelings, their human needs, without judgment.
It is precious to be heard from the heart, received without judgment. It is in such moments of listening and being heard from the heart, that we understand what that key ethical principle means: when we elicit the best from another, we are eliciting the best from ourselves.
Jone Johnson Lewis, Leader of the Society, will reflect on how we can listen from the heart, especially in uncertain times.
