Glitch Art and Queerness

This talk will provide a brief introduction to Glitch Art, covering the basics of the art movement, important and influential Glitch Artists.  You’ll also hear about the correlations between Glitch Art and Queerness. Our speaker, Sky Goodman, will also discuss their love for the genre, why they started making art in this style and discuss their current and past Glitch projects.  Sky will be with us via Zoom, on-screen in the meeting room if you’re there in person.

Sky Goodman is a multimedia artist, poet, and educator living in Chicago, Illinois.  Sky’s formal training is in poetry (MFA from Columbia College) with a background of teaching creative writing and literature to high school and college students. Currently they work full time as an artist, creating music videos for bands and working with virtual reality and 3D software, crafting dream-scapes. Sky regularly collaborates with other artists, musicians and dancers. They are a part of the audio visual duos interference//, ethereal_interface, and Twin Render. They are one half of the New Media collective S H R I N E which puts on live events, exhibitions, and performances in Chicago. Sky is the author of three published poetry books, “Starfish” “Deep Dream” and “Universal Texture.” Their work has been exhibited internationally and in the metaverse.

Sunday Sharing

Contributions to "Sunday Sharing" are shared between RYSEC and this month's sharing partner as we try to contribute to making a more humane world.  This month, we focus on ending gun violence (and will in a future month focus on an LGBTQIA+ organization, which we usually have done during Pride Month).

Meeting Location

This Sunday is Zoom-only for the platform program. We begin the program promptly at 10:30 am ET, with gathering time from 10:15.  We will try to end by 11:30.  The Zoom room will be open until noon for socializing.
