Growing Ethics Day Camp

Monday, August 26 – Friday, August 30

Ages 5-9

Join us for some fun, cooperative and creative activities before the school year starts again! Growing Ethics Day Camp is directed by Jackie Davis, MSW, a parent-educator who is great with kids; and some awesome supporting adults and teens!

We are excited for our third year of camp! in 2017, our camp was featured in the Riverdale Press.

Sample Daily Schedule for Camp in 2019:

9-11:30am: Earth Avengers (addressing a different topic/theme each day)

  • Gardening/Composting
  • Street Trees & Native/Invasive Species
  • Litter Busters
  • Hiking and Adventures in the Woods
  • Environmental Advocacy

11:30am-12:15pm: Ethics Cafe

Children bring their own lunch and also cooperate in making a nutritious side dish together.

12:15-2pm: Ethical Explorations (addressing a different topic/theme each day)

  • Respecting Difference
  • Taking Responsibility for our Community
  • Standing up for Ourselves and Others when Treated Unfairly
  • Naming and Handling our Feelings
  • Finding Ways to Cooperate

2-3pm: Outdoor play time (free play)

Optional pick-up at 3pm

3-4:30pm: Movies with a Message (optional activity)

Curated movie screening to help reinforce content addressed during the day.

We do not have separate age groups at camp, but we do organize some small group activities. Your 5-year old will be interacting with 9-year olds, but not always in a large group setting. Many of our activities are outside, so we encourage campers who like outdoor play and exploration!

Fee: $350 ($300 for each additional child and RYSEC Members)

We offer daily rates for those who cannot attend the entire week. If you register but then become unable to attend camp, we will refund all but $25 of tuition paid. We require at least a 7-day notice for refunds before camp starts so we can offer your spot to another camper.

To Register: Register via Eventbrite

For specific inquires, or to receive notification when registration opens, please email Liz Collier at liz.collier@rysec.org.
