Curbside Composting is the New York City Department of Sanitation’s (DSNY) collection service for food scraps, food-soiled paper products, and yard waste. Just like traditional recycling, residents separate these items and put them in a brown bin provided by DSNY. We collect these materials every week and turn them into compost or renewable energy.
Residents can sign-up through the online form or by calling 311. Collection will roll out to new community board districts on a monthly basis based on the number of sign-ups in the district.
