Platforms
Platforms are the Ethical Society’s Sunday gathering. Members and Friends gather primarily to maintain connections with one another and to meet new friends and neighbors who are interested in learning more about the ethical way of life.
The typical Platform event is comprised of a guest speaker who addresses an issue of concern to the community. Subjects vary widely from local politics or quality of life issues to global warming, foreign wars, national politics, health issues and human rights concerns.
Newcomers to our Society are greeted by a member volunteer who will provide a program for that day’s Platform as well as information about the Society. The Platform service is hosted by a Leader or member. Preliminary to that day’s talk, there is an opportunity for attendees to share their joys and concerns about things going on in their lives or in the world in general. Live music is performed by members or professional musicians and there is most often a song or two in which all may participate.
Following the Platform address, you will hear updates on many of the activities and social action efforts taking place at the Society. There may be a call for volunteers or news of achievements, upcoming meetings and events, and other opportunities to become involved in the life of the community.
Finally, there is a social hour during which members and friends enjoy coffee and re-connect and meet new friends.
See our calendar for schedule of Platforms.
