Things Worth Believing, and Why @ Riverdale-Yonkers Society for Ethical Culture Meeting House | New York | United States

This reflection aims to communicate one working scientist’s practical and personal view of the Scientific Method.

Carl, a medical researcher and former tenured faculty at Washington University School of Medicine, is a new member of the Northern Westchester Ethical Society, but not new to progressive religion or the Ethical Society. He and wife Maria Schmidt were members of the St Louis Ethical Society for 12 years. Their kids went through the Sunday School and national youth groups (YES). Their son, Max, met his wife Maya, who grew up in the Washington Ethical Society, through YES. Daughter Alex was president of YES 2002-3 season, son Max VP 2003-4 (under the presidency of his future wife). Alex, Max, and Maya were among the founders of FES. Carl and Maria were involved in multiple committees in St. Louis, and Carl was VP of the AEU 2001-2005. They were enthusiastic and deeply involved members of the Westside UU Church in Ft. Worth, TX from 2004-2013.

11 a.m. is gathering time, to meet and greet one another.  We start the formal program at 11:15 and usually end about 12:30.  After that, we have a time of informal conversation with some beverages and snacks.  Please feel free to bring some snacks to share!
