Used books and fresh baked goods will be for sale. Proceeds will go to the organization KIND: Kids In Need of Defense, which provides legal and other services to children detained at the U.S. border, as well as to our own Ethics for Children program.
The used book and bake sale is a culminating service project activity for our Ethics for Children program in their learning about of migrants and refugees. Each week in March, children are being introduced to the stories of real refugees through videos, books, guest speakers, and empathy-building activities. Children are mapping these human journeys on both a physical map and digital map (using the National Geographic MapTracker). They are also sharing with the other children about their own family members who migrated or moved a new country.
